New York City is THE American Gateway City – and certainly the Gateway to the Soccer World. As the 24-hour City by which all others are measured, New York has a “vibe” that is unlike any other city in America – unlike any city in the World. And the rest of the World knows it. When the Soccer World wants to come to America, it wants to come to New York.

New York is people – more and different people.  If New York were a European nation it would be a good deal larger than Cruyff’s Holland and more than double that of CR7’s Portugal.

And, of course, New York is the THE American melting pot.  Of the nearly 5 million residents of Brooklyn and Queens, a little less than half are of ethnic origin. Italians in Bensonhurst, Greeks in Astoria, Irish in Woodside, Polish in Greenpoint.  Think of a nationality and we can show you a little – or not so little – taste of the home country right here.

And that ethnicity extends beyond the 5 Boroughs – Portuguese in Mineola, Jamaicans in Mt. Vernon and Uniondale, Germans in Franklin Square, Chileans in Valley Stream, a vast diversity of communities with Latino origins …. the list goes on.

In fact, when people think of New York, their initial thought is of the 5 Boroughs. But what many do not realize is that the 5 surrounding counties – Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland and Fairfield, CT – taken together, would be the 2nd largest city metro in the USA.  These surrounding NY Metro area counties boast a combined population of over 4.9 million.  And it is in those suburban counties where many of the area’s 300 Soccer Clubs and over 250,000 affiliated members of U.S. Soccer lace up their boots each weekend or gather at the local pub to watch the North London derby, the Classico or the next USA vs. Mexico match.

Taken together – this is where BQE finds the underlying support for the sport and our efforts.  These are families and communities predisposed to the world’s game in their backyard and their children grow up kicking a ball, not swinging a bat or throwing a pigskin.

And now for some New York eye candy – we know why you’re here……
